Pharmaceutical Latin: Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium


English Name: Orange Peel, Citrus Peel, Tangerine Peel

Property:

Pungent, Bitter;

Warm;

Spleen, Lung meridians


Function:

Promote Qi and Strengthen Spleen; Harmonize Middle-Jiao, Dry dampness and Resolve phlegm


Indication:

Traditionally used for food retention, abdominal distension and/or pain, diarrhea, dysentery, dysmenorrhea or amenorrhea (due to Blood stagnation), postpartum abdominal pain, prolonged lochia, Indigestion in children, etc.


Modern pharmacological studies have demonstrated that ChenPi has marked bioactivities, especially on the diseases of the digestive and respiratory systems. Approximately 140 chemical compounds have been isolated and identified from ChenPi. Among them, volatile oils and flavonoids are generally considered as the main bioactive and characteristic ingredients. ChenPi possesses wide pharmacological effects such as having a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular, digestive, and respiratory systems, antitumor, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties; and a protective effect on the liver and nerve.


Dosage:

For decoction: 3-9g.

For food therapy: make tea, add into porridge, or eat it as snack.


Caution:

Be caution for patient with internal dryness or excessive heat; dry cough due to Yin-deficiency; hematemesis

Zhi GanCao 4g


Functions:

Harmonize Spleen and Stomach; Resolve dampness and phlegm


It can be used to:

  • Epigastric and abdominal distention (bloating) and fullness with intermittent pain

  • Acid regurgitation, belching, nausea and vomiting, and loss of appetite.

  • Constipation or Diarrhea.

Mainly used for: Acute gastroenteritis; Acute exacerbations of chronic gastroenteritis; Chronic/Acute hepatitis; Chronic/Acute pancreatitis; Atrophic gastritis; Obesity; Insomnia; Chronic/Acute cholecystitis; Gastric hyperacidity; Peptic ulcer; Celiac disease; Gastrointestinal influenza, etc.


Food therapy | Pork stew with ChenPi

Pork 50g

Function:

It can strengthen Spleen and Stomach, increase appetite, and reduce stomach ache.

It’s suitable for stomach ache, nausea or vomiting, bloating, decreased appetite due to High Stomach Acid.


 

藥|陳皮


陳皮即橘皮,由橘子成熟後的果皮晒干或烘干所得。陳皮放置年份越久越好,故称为“陳皮”。


別名:橘皮、貴老、紅皮、黃橘皮、廣橘皮、新會皮、柑皮、廣陳皮等。

英文名:(sun-dried) tangerine peel


性味歸經:性溫;味辛、苦;歸脾、肺經。


功效: 理氣健脾,調中,燥濕,化痰。


用途:

傳統上用於脾胃氣滯之脘腹脹滿或疼痛、消化不良。濕濁阻中之胸悶腹脹、納呆便溏。痰濕壅肺之咳嗽氣喘。

陳皮的苦味物質是以檸檬苷和苦味素為代表的“類檸檬苦素”,這種類檸檬苦素味平和,易溶解於水,有助於食物的消化。陳皮用於烹製菜餚時。其苦味與其他味道相互調和,可形成獨具一格的風味。陳皮含有揮髮油、橙皮甙、維生素B、C等成分,它所含的揮髮油對胃腸道有溫和刺激作用,可促進消化液的分泌,排除腸管內積氣,增加食慾。

現代研究發現,陳皮所含橙皮甙有維生素P樣作用,可降低毛細血管的通透性、防止微細血管出血;能拮抗組織胺、溶血卵磷脂引起的血管通透性增加;能增強纖維蛋白溶解、抗血栓形成;还有利膽作用。


用法用量:

煎服。3~10g;或入丸散外。亦可泡茶,煮粥或作零食食用,為食療佳品。

禁忌:氣虛體燥、陰虛燥咳、吐血及內有實熱者慎服。


方 | 二陳丸

製法用量:

陳皮12克 半夏12克 茯苓6克 炙甘草4克

研为细末,姜汁泛丸。每次服9克,溫開水送下;

亦可加生姜7片,乌梅1个,水煎温服。


功效:

化濕痰,和脾胃。

治療一切痰飲為病,咳嗽脹滿,嘔吐噁心,頭眩心悸,或中脘不快,或食生冷,飲酒過度,脾胃不和。


現代應用:

現代醫學認為本方祛痰、鎮咳、鎮吐、抑制胃液分泌、降低胃液酸度、健胃。用於眩暈、嘔吐、妊娠惡阻、胃下垂、酒醉、食傷、氣鬱、習慣性頭痛、腦溢血,神經機能病等。


膳 |陳皮瘦肉羹

材料:

陳皮10克,豬瘦肉50克,生薑3片,調味品適量。

將陳皮洗淨,切為細末;蔥切為段;豬瘦肉洗淨,切絲,用澱粉、醬油、料酒勾芡;鍋中放植物油適量燒熱後,下蔥、姜爆香,而後下肉絲爆炒,再下陳皮絲翻炒,待熟時調入食鹽、味精,炒熟即成。。


功效:

可健脾開胃,制酸止痛,適用於胃氣鬱滯,胃酸過多把致的胃脘疼痛,暖氣,泛吐清水等。
